The Planet and Denmark

The Danish Council on Climate Change’s 10th Anniversary Publication brings together contributions from a number of prominent researchers, organizations, and political actors to examine Danish climate policy in a global context. It explores how different agendas influence and shape climate policy in the world, the EU, and Denmark.

The publication first addresses the planetary boundaries that underpin our climate policy, including the concept of planetary boundaries itself, as well as the central reports from the IPCC and UNEP that are meant to guide our actions. It then examines the EU’s role in promoting climate policy that is not only effective in tackling climate change but also contributes to a sustainable future for all EU citizens. How can the EU’s strategies serve as a model for cooperation and innovation, and what challenges does the EU face?

The anthology’s primary focus, however, is on Danish climate policy seen from a range of perspectives. How do the government, businesses, NGOs, and citizens contribute to shaping a sustainable future for Denmark? What roles do these actors play, and how can we ensure that all voices are heard in the climate policy debate?

Finally, the anthology reflects on the council’s development and role in Danish climate policy over the past decade. From its establishment to today, the Danish Council on Climate Change has played a significant role in shaping Denmark’s approach to climate policy.
